Passports for new-borns

The child must be registered with the Consular Section of the Embassy within six months of birth. At least one parent with passports of both the parents has to be present physically at the Embassy while applying for an Indian passport for a new born child.
 
Steps to be followed:

Step 1:

Visit https://embassy.passportindia.gov.in/. Apply for a fresh passport for the new born. Take a printout of the application form. Put the thumb impression of the child in dark ink (on the first page below the photograph). Please note that the thumb impression must be clearly visible and within the designated box. The last page of the application form should be signed by the parent(s).

Step 2:

Visit https://indiancitizenshiponline.nic.in/ . Fill in the online application form. Make sure to upload signatures of both the parents while filling the online application. Take a printout of the online application. Both the parents are required to sign the second page of the printed application form. 

Step 3:

(i)       Visit https://indianconsularservices.mea.gov.in/consularServices/ . Apply for the REGISTRATION OF CHILD BIRTH, upload the required documents on the portal and submit the application.Based on the documents uploaded, the Embassy will verify the application and applicant will receive a notification in this regard. In case of objection while verification, the same will be intimated to the applicant through the online portal. In this case the applicants are required to re-submit the application after uploading the relevant documents. The Embassy will again verify the application and intimate the status though the same online portal.

(ii)     Once the applicant receives the confirmation of verification, the required fee (Euro 38 for Passport and Euro 21 for Birth Certificate. Total Euro 59) may be transferred to the following bank account of the Indian Embassy:

Step 4:

At least one parent has to visit the Embassy on any working day between 9 AM -12 PM with the following documents:

  1. Printed copy of the duly filled in application form of STEP 1 above
  2. Printed copy of the duly filled in application form of STEP 2 above
  3. Printed copy of the duly filled in application form of STEP 3 above
  4. Printed copy of the dully filled in and signed by both the parents of Annexure D.
  5. Printed copy of fee transfer receipt
  6. Self-attested copies of the passport of both the parents
  7. Self-attested copies of residence permit of both the parents
  8. Three colour photographs of 2 inch x 2 inch (51mmX51mm) of applicant/child. Detailed Photo specifications can be checked at https://www.indembhelsinki.gov.in/pdf/Photo-Spec-Passports.pdf
  9. Self-attested copy of the Extract from the local government population system. If the extract is not available, a copy of the Birth Certificate issued to the child by the hospital may be submitted.
  10. Self-attested copy of proof of address in India. Passport copy parents Passports, Voter id card/Aadhaar card/Driving licence/Electricity bill etc. may be submitted.
  11. Self-attested copy of marriage certificate duly apostilled.  

Note:
Applicants are advised to follow the above-mentioned steps and submit the application along with all the relevant documents. Incomplete applications due to any missing relevant documents cannot be processed and it can take more than usual processing time.
